Rally: Masked Floridians Challenge ChemLawn's Use of Toxic Pesticides THURSDAY 11am Island Park Downtown Sarasota

We are holding a Press Conference and Rally at 11am this Thursday at Island Park in downtown Sarasota, where Ringling hits 41 at the Bay Front. We will convene in front of the children’s playground for a Press Conference. We need your support! Bring your family, your pets, and your children. There will be 3 speakers and it shall last no more than 30 minutes. It’s a small contribution of your time for a big impact

The Toxics Action Center is gearing up for our final event this year, which will take place this Thursday, December 21st at 11am in downtown Sarasota. Refuse to Use ChemLawn activists and volunteers have been raising awareness about dangerous lawn care pesticides in the Sarasota community for the past 7 weeks, generating over 700 pledge cards, educating over 350 homeowners with door-hangers, flooding the ChemLawn office with calls of concern from area residents, making public presentations to hundreds of people, and putting pressure on the nation’s largest pesticide-based lawn service company. We are working side-by-side with over 30 local community groups to get ChemLawn, as the industry leader, to phase out the use of their most toxic chemicals, beginning with the known possible carcinogens, so that they will offer our community the least toxic alternatives.

ChemLawn offers a truly organic line of service in Canada, and we deserve the same here in the U.S. TruGreen ChemLawn is responding to our community pressure, and it’s now time to make our voices louder and clearer than ever that we want our children, our pets, our waterways, and our irreplaceable wildlife protected from exposure to dangerous lawn pesticides. We need your help to protect the state of Florida from exacerbated Red Tide conditions, sky-rocketing rates of cancers and reproductive illness, worker safety abuses, and violations of public trust as TruGreen ChemLawn continues failing to disclose information about its toxic chemical cocktails. As Christmas approaches, we urge you to think about the importance of protecting the health of our families. ……See you there!

Happy Holidays! Ashley --
