Hi,
I was hoping to contact the author of this blog to gain input for our upcoming "Green Issue" for SRQ Magazine.
Could you please email me at riccis@srqmagazine.com?

Thanks,

I submit this poem I wrote:-

Earth Day 2007

There was a Man who stood there looking

While his wife was inside cooking.

He just stood there for a while

And on his face there was a smile.

Wasn’t bothered by the noise

Or going golfing with the boys,

But looking out, at his trees

With leaves blowing in the breeze.

He felt Nature in his soul.

It told him that he played a role.

“Moss on an oak tree” was all he said.

And then he went inside to bed.

But in his mind, the moss was there.

He knew it lived when there was good air,

Bright sun & rain as pure as snow.

Without those three, the moss wouldn’t grow.

And so he said a little prayer

For sun, & rain, & good clean air.

‘Cause moss is just a living thing

Cannot be created by a king.

A part of life that is so small

Just the same, a part of it all.

And without it’s role on the earth

There’s other things that couldn’t give birth.

Like bugs and other plants that thrive

Only when moss grows and is alive.

And those bugs & plants give rise to others

More bugs & plants come from these mothers.

And so through eternity

Little things bring more things from maternity.

And life gets complex and diverse

Until it meets up with man’s curse.

Man dreams of power and of greed

Taking more than he does need.

So have some reason to your actions,

Don’t take more, take only fractions.

We are here to give and not to take

‘Cause when we don’t, it’s a mistake.

You can’t drink water that we’ve made bad

Or breathe foul air, and that is sad.

Take some tock and leave the tick

Try not to make the planet sick.

It’s good for you and it’s good for me.

So standing there beside his tree,

The Man knew and had no doubt

Of Peace within and Peace without.

So join this Man and look around,

You’ll find the Peace that he has found.

Think Mother Earth in all you do

Remember she’s your Mother, too!

Each day is Earth Day for your child

The Man knew this, that’s why he smiled.
